U.S. Market for basic SS models?

Hi folks,

Haven't been paying too much attention to the newer stuff the last couple of years as I was largely into vintage, but considering getting a close family member their first Rolex soon - is the wait still absurd for the more basic models like the 41mm OP and DJ?

I know the 36DJ can be had fairly easily at times, but they definitely need at least a 40mm.

Just curious if anyone's been looking at the 'base' stuff lately here stateside.

Cheers all!

You probably won’t walk in and get it but both are available on allocation with a short wait. Maybe the green op 41 is harder to get, but the rest on any configuration should not be too long of a wait.

Ah good to hear it's settled a bit, won't need it 'til autumn - with Rolex I've long-ago learned it's best to ask ahead! :)

Cheers

There's still the issue of your standing with the AD. Lots of people also want the same models you mention.

If you've been out of the market so long then unlikely you have a deep share of wallet with them.

That is the most likely indicator - but hopefully the softening market might help you get what you want.
Good Luck

I think a DJ41 would be easier to get than an OP41. Multiple dials and bezel/bracelet combos for the DJ, some more in demand than others.
OPs have been relatively hard to get since their revamp in late 2020. Multiple sizes and different dials results in dealers getting less of each specific configuration.

If you sound out your local AD you should be fine and they should be able to tell you a timeframe but that’s something I’d do sooner rather than later

Plain 36mm is just as tough, if not more so than the 41mm. The 36mm which do come in tend to have gems on them.
