Better fit for my collection: 16613lb or 16710 Pepsi

Have an opportunity to pick up either a 16710 Pepsi naked z serial, or a 1997 16613 blusey from 1997 with box. Condition is very
Good on both, and they are priced the same. Currently, among my sports pieces, I have a two tone date just, sub c black, explorer 2 polar, and a 1016 explorer. Both the 16710 and the blusey are grails of mine, and equal in that regard. The condition and price are also roughly the same, so hard to decide that way. What’s the better fit for my collection right now? I already have 2 steel 40+mm pieces, and the gmt function on my explorer 2. I would like some color, which the blue dial of course adds, but so too does a Pepsi bezel. Of course I will have to make a decision and it’s my collection, but curious to hear everyone’s thoughts given what I already have. Thanks!

Can't go wrong with either, buy the one in best condition.

That is my plan, but I have noticed for whatever reason that it is harder to find 16613 in good condition that it is to find 16710. I think it is likely because the gold wears down faster from polishing and a lot have been polished

That being the case, get the bluesy!

I'd personally go Pepsi, mainly because I find the bluesy a bit too blingy for my taste, but both are total Rolex classics.

Id choose the 16710 and then grab a few other inserts to have some options.

I found a great 16710 LN and got a Pepsi insert from a trusted seller here. I keep the Pepsi on it full time.

A buddy of mine bought a bluesy when they first came out, and i thought it was the most beautiful watch I'd ever seen. When I could afford one, I got one; and it never clicked with me. I love how they look, just not on me. I gave it to my son when he graduated college. I love how it looks on him.

Definitely want Pepsi and Coke. I don’t care for the black bezel given my sub c! That will make the price on getting one of those bezels cheaper from RSC since it will be a trade in. My understanding is they will let you keep the bezel but at a higher cost than if you give yours back.

I'm no expert in neo-vintage pieces, but, of the two, I'd go Pepsi.

Can you swing for both now? If not, but you plan to end up with both in the future, then grab the bluesy first. And then add the 16710. Or do it the other way around. Haha

Both are awesome, and once both are in your collection with your 16570 Polar, you’ll have an awesome 5-digit trio!

What a killer trio! I can’t swing both right now. I can get one by moving my Vacheron dress piece and some cash. But if I want both, I’d have to either flip my two tone datejust (on a hidden jubilee) or the explorer

Pepsi hands down. It's the must have for you right now.

Later on, if you still feel the pull, add the bluesy.

As my name implies, I’m a big fan of the 16710. I think it is the best Rolex ever produced.

Like you, I do have the 16613LB on my “wish list” because I think it adds some unique pop and color.

I would always go for best condition (and I tend to want at least warranty papers — even if they are meaningless).

Assuming equal condition (and a box is not really important, as they can come from any where), I think you need to decide if you want Superluminova/SELs/No Holes or if you want Tritium/Hollow Endlinks/Lug Holes.

I do think Z-serial 16710s are harder to find, and as they are late the production and have no holes in a bit more demand.

For me, personally, I prefer the later Superluminova and SEL 16613LBs, as I don’t like how the aged tritium looks against the gold and blue — but that’s just me.

Good luck!

I think this is how I’ve been leaning. The solid end links, superluminova, and no
Holes case are important to me. The Pepsi has that, the 16613 does not (hallow, holes, tritium).

Box is not important to me fortunately. It gets stashed away lol. The delta between 116613 and 16613 is shrinking by the day, which is something I’m considering. The same isn’t true for 116710 and 16710

I’ve had a number of 6-digit sport models, and while I admire them, for me, the 5-digits just fit better and suit my aesthetic preferences better.

If you like 6-digits, and are weighing a 16613 vs a 116613/126613, then I’d probably go with the 6-digit for the TT, as it looks like the solid link bracelets with gold hold up much better over time.

While some may malign the 5-digit steel bracelets, I think they hold up fine —or at least better than those with gold.

So with those preferences, I think you should go for the 16710, and wait for a better/different example of a late serial 16613 or 116613/126613.

16710 would be my choice, as a z serial its almost at the end of this era of watch. No holes case and solid end links. I’ve never been a fan of the bluesy and you already have a sub, but not a gmt master II

I learned my lesson the hard way. Premium for Pepsi (16710) is ludicrous.
1 LN+2 OEM bezels=3 watches.

You do your own maths.

The premium dealers put on a Pepsi versus a black bezel when the cost of a new bezel is nominal (assuming the Pepsi they have doesn’t have special patina or anything) is insane

Here on TRF: Rolex parts accessories sub-forum.

Yes, I know they are expensive here on TRF, but RSC is restrictive in what they will divvy out.
