Datejust 36 : Silver or Blue
Hello everybody,
I just got the call for a DJ36 after a 4 months wait, but after doing a bit of research I'm having second thoughts toward the blue dial. I realize that everyone will have their own preferences, but maybe someone will come up with interesting argument/photo/story. If I cancel the silver and if the AD doesn't blacklist me (no purchase history), I will have to wait at least 4 months or more, and I may get caught by the new price increase.. I chose that configuration because I don't want something too dressy (exit gold bezel), the jubilee is awesome, and the silver dial seems to make the watch appear bigger plus it's a classic. Would you go blue or stick to the initial plan ? The green is nice too. I might go grey but I have had a bad experience few months ago (stripe on a crystal, explorer 36, reputable seller, sent it back) Thanks for your expert input https://www.rolex.com/fr/watches/datejust/m126200-0001 |

They are both great. If you buy silver, you’ll want blue; if you buy blue, you’ll want silver. Buy the first available and do not look back. I ended up getting both (and the Wimbledon, too).

I agree, whichever you get, you'll want the other. Buy both, and after a time, if you find you wear one lots more than the other, you'll easily be able to offload one.

I’d choose blue, because I already have a silver OP! Get whichever they offer first, on jubilee with fluted bezel.

Silver is underappreciated. So clean, and has more depth than you would think in the right lights. It also goes from a cold silver to an almost champagne depending on lighting.

Blue as the variation in different light makes all the difference.

That silver dial with stick markers is great, versatile, eye catching, can’t miss.

My wife and I feel entitled to contribute although i don’t know if it will be of any help. The silver is hers. Maybe the blue can vary more depending on exposure to light.

I am attracted to blue face watches and have quite a few. With that said I do not wear the color frequently and it is a difficult match if your clothing and watch some close. I really like the silver as it is more neutral in color and does not call as much attention to itself. I would go sliver, black or white.

Blue without a moments hesitation.
I was fortunate to get my daughters one each. Always with the blue dial. So, much prefer them for both the contrast with the hands and batons as well as the actual colour. Two on Jubilee and Fluted and my middle daughter preferred Oyster with a smooth bezel.

If it's your first Rolex I'd go versatile with Silver. If you already have a versatile watch and think of the new piece as an addition to your collection go Blue. Good luck with your choice. Hard to go wrong with either.
