Which one to keep to compliment YG / White Dial Daytona?

Can only keep two for now. Keep the 16710 w/ 3186 (all three bezels and both bracelets) or keep 116719 White Gold GMT? Part of me wants 2 precious medals in different colors but the other part thinks the 3186 is a future collector. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I have a 3186 late 2007 GMT which was purchased in 2014 and was a complete random coincidence.

Even back then a 6 digit movement in the 5 digit gmt wasn’t a thing.

Rarity in watches that achieve extreme values is usually the result of one offs, low production runs like the Le Mans Daytona etc.

I don’t think these transitional GMT’s will fetch any more than the slight premium they might fetch like they do today. I appreciate this comment might age badly but these haven’t ever gone crazy.

The WG gmt is objectively a much better and more special watch. I’d keep that.

The 12 series meteorite I would say is one for the future where values could go mental. Any meteorite or stone dial DD too.

For now all prices are going down. If you wait for the 3186 to become more collectable than it is already you’ll have to wait a very very long time I am afraid.

That out of the equation of course you should keep your WG

Keep your WG GMT. I was holding an F series LV that I bought for 4,500 and fortunately sold it for 24k. The prices have diminished. Keep what you love rather than speculate what the other reference will be worth.

Hmm...tough one.

I like the PM as a complement idea, but I don't think I would want to part with the 5 digit, either. That's a special watch, IMO.

I guess it depends on what you're feeling the best about wearing right now, vs a collector's standpoint.

I am slightly leaning towards keeping the stainless GMT. I personally would enjoy the variety it gives with the different bezels/bracelets, and you may not always want to wear a precious metal piece.

That being said, if you mainly prefer the pepsi bezel and oyster bracelet, keeping the 116719 is the best path in my opinion. I'd only keep the stainless GMT if I was actually swapping out the bracelets/bezel often--or if I generally preferred the jubilee bracelet.

Yup, exactly. I go back and forth for that as well. Part of me loves the versatility, but the other part thinks it will wear down the parts on the watch faster - I remember the serial number fading with repeated swap of bands. Also, scratches on the bottom the case. The bezel notch also wears down.

I love the 3186 and stick dial too.... but precious metal is intrinsic value so it is a difficult call.

How does the serial number fade from swapping bracelets? Perhaps it could be a technique issue?

For scratches on the bottom of the case--that is largely technique. With a pair of Bergeon springbar tweezers, tape, and some practice, you can get to where you never scratch the watch or very seldom do.

It sounds to me, though, like you like the variety of the 16710 and the WIS nuances of the movement and dial to where you'd probably derive more enjoyment. I know it sounds crazy, but I completely get it.
