WG GMT vs WG Sub
I have been looking at various threads and now that the blue dial WG GMT does not have a big mark up, it becomes a tougher choice between WG GMT and WG Sub 41 - Thoughts?

WG GMT vs WG Sub
I much prefer the GMT. Whether it be PM or SS.
I own or have owned multiple modern GMTs and Subs in different metals and I prefer the GMT for its better movement (jumping hour hand, date wheel bi-direction, time zone tracking) and wears much better than the diver imo. The Sub 41 feels bloated to me and I have sold all of mine. While the WG Sub sells grey for significantly less than retail, the blue dial GMT is still a very good value proposition. I like Gmt's so that's my vote. Such an amazing piece. blue dial WG Pepsi. Then buy yourself and omega smp 300 blue wave dial to scratch the blue & blue diver itch that will compliment the WG Gmt nicely

Between the two, WG GMT Blue over the new 41m WG sub. There is a reason the new WG sub is heavily heavily discounted. It’s not a very desirable piece obviously

If the meteorite dial is out of the question, it would come down to me whether you care about the GMT function. If you don't, then the Sub wears a little better and has the glidelock clasp that is very useful.

Big favor of the sub. Can’t stand meteorite dials, the Pepsi is busy enough. And the blue dial, it looks like a standard SS GMT with a blue dial which is worse IMO than the classic black dial.

My vote is for the WG GMT with the meteorite dial, a real stunning piece. If you are going to spend that much get the best dial. The dial blue is nice too. The WG Sub or Cookie Monster is a beautiful watch however if you buy one new? And they are available at the AD in stock or little wait. I’ve been offered 2 of them in the past 6 months , but you will take a $10K loss or more. Strong pass even though I like the look and the stealth wealth appeal.
The GMT all day for me. Cheers, |

WG GMT vs WG Sub
Owned black and blue dial versions of WG GMT and the new WG sub and Smurf, too.
GMT blue dial wins due to the difference vs original WG black dial GMTs. Overall, Smurf wins by a mile. Get one of those Preowned. 116619. Otherwise, blue dial GMT wins. Note that my GMT below was the early version with Mk1 fuscha/purple bezel and had the Blue dial added later. I had both black and blue dials, with the watch. Uncommon, but they did replace the dial upon request and sometimes allow owners to keep the original, black GMT dial. Just another WIS who loves to trade. @bladeandwatch1 on IG

I'd vote GMT over Sub, WG or SS.

WG GMT between the two, in part because I can’t gel with the enormous clasp on the 12- Subs.

The Smurf is really special in the metal, but something about the black dial ceramic WG sub still just calls to me personally. Meteorite BLRO is a different answer, but market price to market price it’s $20k+ more expensive for a reason so I don’t think that’s a fair fight.

Smurf, the new variant is too bland.
I don’t know why all the smurfs posted above are so flashing bright. I’d say the color is a bit more understated and it’s hard to photograph it. |

My choice depends on the metal.
WG GMT > WG Sub SS Sub > SS GMT |

Definitely due too lighting. My shots of the blue are in natural sunlight and the watch is mesmerizing. It pops. In subdued lighting, like yours in a plane, the natural light is minimized.

I totally agree regarding the clasp on the 12 series Sub. It’s just not comfortable. I don’t have experience with a GMT (yet). Is the clasp that much smaller and more comfortable? Also, does the GMT have a quickset date feature, or must it be adjusted using the jumping hour? If it were the 31st and the watch stopped on the 15th and I was setting it, would it take a bit of time or could the date quickly and easily be adjusted to the 31st? Sub.
I need glidelock on a heavier watch.
