Educate me on these GMT prices?

Hi, sorry if this is a silly question but I have only recently started learning about the GMT Master II. Wondering why is the Batgirl so much higher in price in the used market compared to the 2023 GRNR (bumblebee/Guinness/JPS) which has a lower premium in the used market. I find it interesting as the grnr has 18k gold and is a newer release - yet appears the better buy?

I’m looking at Batgirls in Australia for around $26k used ($17.5k new)
And grnr used for around $32k (new for $27.5k)

SS vs TT. Just the way she goes these days. Do yourself a favor, get what you really want and ignore that noise.

Just a reflection of current market supply and demand. I have a BLNR on jubilee and I’m waiting for a GRNR they are both great pieces in their own ways

Buy whatever you like. Market demand dictates prices. Don't be shy about shopping around and negotiating in good faith.

Best value Rolex is going to be two tone generally.

My TT GMT is my favorite GMT ever; probably my favorite Rolex ever. My second favorite is my OP41 Silver, also TT; sort of.

Thanks guys. Very exciting times indeed!… SS Batgirl or TT Guinness… the hunting is fun but also very painful on making a choice. One thing for certain is.. GMT!

Don't go with the better buy. Go with what you want the most. Enjoy the search!

If possible try some on if not done so already. I know through personal experience it has helped me with my many purchases .Gmt's are well balanced( dress, casual) time pieces. Good luck!

I really have to try both on side by side! We have been budgeting since selling our old house and by the end of this week our renovations will be completed.. and the watch budget still has not been touched! … Hopefully next week I will be actively looking for Grey dealers with both watches in stock.

Let’s see if I can get this photo to work..

Here is my little collection.. would you add the Batgirl or GRNR if you were me? Would love to read people’s thoughts. I’m not a business/suit wearer. I’m a tattooed musician. The Batgirl is so damn cool but the idea of some extra punch from the GRNR is super tempting too.

Also I have the steel straps for all my watches, just playing around with the new mountains, cottage life this year.

If you want a GMT I’d go VTNR for something a little different and a punch of color

It may change in the future but generally two tone watches do not have as much excess demand as stainless. The demand is generally lower for them because of price and color choice.

We don't know all the numbers but Rolex does tend to make less of them as evidenced in the new submariner book.

Interesting!

Has the Batman always had the higher premium since it was released in 2013? Or is it high mainly in recent years?

Go for exactly what YOU want and don't look at what the price was new vs. resale. There's a reason why the SS models are more than what MSRP was- it's purely demand and supply. That will ALWAYS be there.

I would also advise against going for a watch just because it's popular in the market VS. what you personally want and prefer. YOU are the one that will be looking at it and wearing it.

Echoing everyone. Get what you want and call it a day. If you have to save more for grey market price + service (which then authenticates said purchase)...then wait.

Personally I have no interest in Jubilee bracelets, GMTs, moon complications, diamonds, illegible dials and don't even understand what chronographs do. Different strokes.

Supply versus demand, nothing more.

Good luck with your hunt. The BLNR is a really nice watch and looks even better in person.

A TT Rolex Professional watch will always have better material value than its SS sibling when said sibling is in high demand. For me this is not the point.
