Beautiful! The current market price on these is around $85k. At $119k someone is going to over pay substantially lol

Agree if it was on Moda, etc without CPO.

The ADs doing CPO are printing very high prices.

The colors all work so well together. Probably my favorite Daytona (regardless of price).

CPO is 119k? LOL that's crazy. A local dealer I know had this in his shop the other day for $92k when I stopped in to say hi.

Can you please review more of the weight aspect please, is it an uncomfortable amount of weight that cannot be done daily? Also are you coming from a gold watch and can you compare it to that and SS, TIA!

Meh, I don't like the colors. Sickly blue-green and poopy brown... and those colors don't go together...

Seriously, Did Thierry Stern design this?

I'm 5'9" and about 155 to 160, so not a big guy. I have worn one every day for the last 8 years. Previously I wore a TT DJ (5 digits) with hollow links, so a very light watch. I honestly don't know what people complain about in terms of weight. It used to be that I noticed it when I'd first slip it on in the morning and then it would melt away after a minute. I'd only notice the weight if I thought about it, and then it was noticeable but in a good way.

I figure if those NFL players can play on Sunday with a 10 pound gold or platinum necklace on, I can handle the burden of a 1/2 pound watch. I do like to wear it relatively tight on my wrist so it isn't sliding around.

I’m with Chiboy! I’ve worn the Platona now for about a year and, while I rotate my watches, which include a very light, stainless GMT 1675 and an equally-light Daytona 6239, I love the feel of the platinum Daytona on my wrist. I also wear the RG blue-green dial Sky-dweller, which is a heavy piece. And the presence of both when I’m wearing them is a pleasure. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy wearing my lighter pieces — I’ve got my birth-year, 1960 Pepsi on as I type this reply, in fact.
But I love the feeling of the heavier pieces. They’re never even a distraction, never mind a problem.

Excuse me for being a ... whatever I am. But I have to ask, because I often wonder about this. At one point I had a WG Daytona, which at the time was worth more than the average car, and I felt a bit self-conscious about wearing it, even if most people didn't know what it was.

How does it feel to wear a watch that is worth well over $100K (US)? Do you feel privileged, special, embarrassed, something else? I mean, honestly, none of you guys and girls with a Platona likely had to borrow money to buy it, or put it on a convenient payment plan after you got it out of lawaway. LOL, you can afford it, go for it! I was just wondering...

That’s a great question. Because only those who know know, I generally don’t feel self-conscious wearing the Platona. I do struggle, however, justifying to myself (no one else asks) having bought a watch that is so expensive when there are so many in need and so many good causes. But that’s something I struggle with generally as someone as privileged (yes, I feel privileged) as I am when I buy more car than I need, when I live in a bigger house than I need, when I buy nicer clothes than I need, when I eat out more often than I need, etc. And those are things I ought to struggle with, even when there’s no clear answer.

We all make choices. TBH, wearing a watch that costs more than the average car is way, way more under the radar than driving a car that costs more than the average platinum Daytona!

I think for most here buying an expensive car or watch does not really impact charitable donations, so the two decisions are independent.

It feels amazing.

As others pointed out, if you have an expensive car like an exotic it’s a people magnet. If you park it in a lot you’ll have people taking their pictures with it and such, asking you about it, even asking to sit in it.

You can wear a watch that costs more than an exotic and it’s with you the entire day and the only people who will notice are watch thieves and fellow watch enthusiasts.

With that said, it’s a big risk wearing it even in “safe” places because you never know if staff at a “safe” place is looking for high end watches and calling their people to rob you. As such I’m pretty careful about what I wear to different places and I always wear sleeves. Same thing with crowds, I don’t take an expensive piece into a crowd of people.

So I’m concerned with the watch not the larger questions of whether it’s ethical to own a watch that is worth multiples of the median annual income.
