216570 box and papers
Hello All
Steve here from nyc. I just picked up a naked explorer 2 from a trusted source . I found an “ authentic box and owners booklet” for this model on EBay Is this considered fake if it was not the original box? Thanks! |

Welcome to TRF.
You'll have to determine if the box and manual are actual Rolex product or knock offs produced by someone else. Good luck. |

Just wear the watch since you don’t have the warranty card.

There is:
. Original . Authentic . Counterfeit (fake) If you have found an authentic box for your watch, then it is just that, it can never be "original". Authentic parts are not counterfeit but they are often not-original. A watch and its accessories are only original once, if they are replaced then they are replacements. If the box is not authentic, then it is counterfeit if it has Rolex trademarks.

Congrats, if the box is original to the time, years of production that’s fine but it will not be worth anymore. The card is more important, should you send it in for service to RSC they will send it back with service card which will add some value to it not much.
Enjoy your new watch and don’t worry about that, the watch does not know that it is naked and on your wrist no one knows? Cheers, |

Welcome to TRF! Congrats on the new to you Explorer II. That's a great piece!
Box/booklets are generic and are all the same so to speak. As long as you got the box/booklets from the same era, and what would have come with the watch when it was new, you are fine. Also, as long as they are authentic too. While having those items does increase the value of your watch if you resold, it doesn't by very much. Also, box/booklets is not considered a full set as they call box and papers. The card is the most important thing and would be considered the "papers". The main thing to concentrate on is just to enjoy your new watch! |

Welcome!
Pro tip, if you want box and papers buy one from a trusted seller that comes with the correct stuff. As people have said it’s impossible to tell if the box is the original box but the papers should match the watch. As for the boxes when you pick up a new Rolex at your AD the hang tag specifies the correct box, the box isn’t tied to the watch they just grab one. |
