Thickest crystal…1680?

Is the 1680 top hat crystal the tallest/thickest plastic crystal that Rolex used?

Does it sit taller than the domed 5513 crystal?

Yes. To both. The experimental DeepSea Challenge doesn't count though.

You appear to get increased date magnification due to the extra height of the crystal

True- I am not a cyclops fan and have replaced the crystal on several references (1807, 1601) with domed crystals because the magnification on the original crystal was not that impressive. I recently acquired a 1680 and was going to do the same until I realized that the date fully fills the magnifier window on the tophat crystal, and adds to the appeal of the 1680.
