Pepsi on jub to panda Daytona?

I understand my choice but if you had a Pepsi on jub and had an option to trade in for a panda Daytona plus an acceptable amount of money (I'll just leave it as acceptable) would you?

Lets hear your thoughts?

Thanks

The Daytona always comes out on top in these comparisons.

That said, I much prefer the BLRO. Here is my reasoning which is obviously personal ….

1. More useful complication
2. The jubilee is sublime, and sets it apart from the rest of the oyster professionals.
3. It’s more legible
4. It has a pop of color that’s both interesting and useful
5. Historically significant
6. Wears larger

Again, these are my personal thoughts, but you have to decide why you might prefer the Daytona.

Two very different watches. Really depends on what else you have in your collection.

I recently got myself a Pepsi and OF Daytona in rose gold. I don't think either of the two would leave my collection, but if I had to choose to keep 1 watch only it would be Pepsi. You can get a nice chrono from other brands, but within GMT range Rolex has no real competition.

Depends on vintage of the Panda and amount of cash top up required.

I was personally underwhelmed after trying on a Daytona. It looked a little small on my wrist compared to what I normally wear. Don’t get me wrong it’s a beautiful watch but I want something that creates more fire inside me and the Daytona didn’t do that for me.

The Pepsi for me is perfection. Easy to read dial, has a date, stunning looks, awesome history, and useful gmt function I’d use almost every day in my profession. That’s why I’d personally choose the Pepsi.

The BLRO has almost achieved unicorn status in the last couple of years. Unless you just don’t like it or don’t wear it anymore I would hold onto it, too difficult to replace in the future. Save for the Daytona and add it when you can.

What Brian said.
The new Daytona is really nice but I found the SS very much underwhelming when strapped on the wrist. I didn’t buy it. Thinking about an Oysterflex version.
Take money out of the equation and I’d pick a GMT BLRO jubilee every day.

One more for the BLRO. Having owned it for 6 years now, it’s perfect. Plus you have the option to buy an oyster for it to switch things up as you wish. Perfect modern Rolex, if one exists.

The Daytona is superior in every way: looks, comfort, secondary market value

The bezel text size in the GMTs is just too big. I couldn’t get it out of my head. This go around I think Tudor did a better job with the GMTs.

Imo comfort wise, both even out. While the Daytona has a flatter case, the jubilee bracelet is substantially more comfortable than the oyster bracelet. I’ve worn both and I would say they are the same. Look wise, the Daytona is too small for a chronograph and is too crammed and hard to read. Not to mention there is no date function and the chrono is a pain in the butt to use. You have to unscrew the chronograph pushers every time to use it.

Resale value wise, both are almost the same markup percentage from their retail. I have a Pepsi on jubilee and working on getting a Daytona but if I had to pick one, I’ll take the Pepsi anyday. A lot easier to read, functional and just a pop of color while remaining timeless and classic. Both are beautiful watches though!.

Both are a must-have, I assume you're talking about a ceramic 500 Daytona? Since the Daytona is harder to acquire, I would make a move and then scoop up the Pepsi ASAP. I value these as much, if not more than some of my PM watches. Good luck, I'm looking forward to seeing that Bad Boy Daytona 500 on your wrist.

In a heartbeat, but not for the white dial version, I would go for the black dial 126500 all day long

This. Hold on to the Pepsi, and add the Daytona once you can comfortably do so.

Sold Pepsi awhile back, never looked back. The Panda Daytona is superior and more special. I was caught up in the nostalgia of the Pepsi but never connected.

The cost to change aside, I would strongly consider it. The Pepsi is a great watch, but the Daytona is the superior of the two IMHO.

Both really nice models but ultimately it depends on the amount of cash you’re potentially paying on top.

For me the Daytona shouldn’t be worth a tonne more, both watches have the ‘second look’ thing whereby when I see them, I always double take for the pop of the bezel on the BLRO and the white dial of the Daytona (black doesn’t really have the same impact)

Do what your heart says, but the ideal scenario would of course be to have both!

I would keep both.

Just buy the Daytona separately.

I have both and choose both. See my IG for photos while you are comparing.

Both are comfortable enough. The Daytona wears smaller and flatter. The white dial is superior in legibility over the black dial Daytona to my eyes.
I added the jubilee bracelet which brought my 126710 Pepsi back to the front. I’d get the Daytona 116500 white dial if that’s what you’re craving. I’m a car guy and something about the Daytona is just right. I imagine you could do the trade in reverse if ever you wanted. If you don’t rely on the date and otherwise use it for time keeping and timing, you won’t miss any functionality.

I have both
The pepsi does everything, dress it up with the jubilee

Has date, 2nd time zone and can dress it down with the 2 colors

The daytona is a watch that in the beginning it didn't do it for me but after 4 yrs now I love it

If u had to choose if go with pepsi cause of the date and 2nd time zone

A classic sports watch that will remain timeless for eternity vs a colorful toy watch - i'll take the former in this match-up.

100% do it and upgrade , the Pepsi is a great watch but the Daytona is class but I’m biased

Looks and comfort are subjective.

For me the 126710 BLRO looks better than the 116500.

Leaving aside functionality, the only objective measure by which the Daytona is better is in secondary value.

I am lucky enough to have both of these watches. They complement each other very well. If I had to choose one, it would be the Pepsi, which is a more versatile watch. If you can and have the opportunity, buy the Daytona to complete the set, if not, keep the Pepsi.

I prefer the BLRO on jubilee. I have owned the last generation SS Daytona's in both black and white and prefer the look and wear of the BLRO.
