Welcome to TRF. I was just comparing your DRSD with the dial on the Double Red Sea Dweller website. I don't think I have ever seen anyone else post a Mark V before. I rotated your dial 45 degrees and cropped your dial. Its on the left. The pic on the right is from DRSD.com.

The dial comparison does look strange, I'm in no way an expert concerning the 1665 but is it the same version? The spacing looks off and the ft and m is obviously not in any way correct.

Please chime in!

Thanks, David

I think it can only be a Mark V. Here is a link to all the different dials.

http://doubleredseadweller.com/dr_dials.htm

I watch the "D" in Sea Dweller. From Mark I, watch what letter the "D" sits over. As the dials progress from Mark II and on......the "D" moves over to the left and changes what letter is sits over. I think the Mark I and Mark II look pretty close but the "D" starts moving with Mark III.

Have been looking at DRSD.com now and could it not be this dial version:

http://doubleredseadweller.com/watch/rsd31.jpg

I am not sure, but it seems as if the printing is just like my watch! It is the version IV - could this be?

Thanks David

Post some more pictures so we can take another look. The Mark IV and its "D" in Sea Dweller aligns directly over the "R". Your "D" is to the left of the "R" from what I can see. Here are pictures that show how the "D" moves to the left starting with Mark II and ending with Mark V.

Thanks, but I feel like crap now. I'm so sorry Dapri. I hope I turn out to be wrong somehow. Its different when you find one for sale and it turns out to be fake. When that happens, your saving someone. When you find one that someone already owns, your crushing them. I feel for ya Dapri.

Yes that is a bummer , but a person should investigate fully what you are purchasing..
I really do serious investigating before making large purchases , it's for my mental health so i can feel comfortable and at ease knowing that it is authenticated...You did him a favor
trust me...

David welcome to the TRF The Rolex GMT16750 is my favorite watch I have ever owned. I bought 1 new as a teenager and have been wearing it for 25 years now. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I look forward to seeing more pictures of your Vintage Rolex's. Although I cannot tell based on that 1 picture was the GMT ever polished? The lug hole looks perfect?

Hi all!

Looks like my last post didn't go through, here's a new try...

There has been progress with the DRSD since last time I posted. I have contacted Fransesco (the seller) and told him everything that you guys have said, he was very angry and told me he would buy the watch back for it's current value if it truly is fake (bla bla bla...). I also asked him if any dial changes had been made that he knew of, and he told me no/that he didn't remember. Anyways, I have once again left the watch at Kaplans with these facts presented, and I'm getting the watch back from them tomorrow.

Here is a new picture:

http://img87.imageshack.us/i/cimg1470.jpg/

Here is the same picture with a highlighted area of a flat spot on the crystal (perhaps/hopefully this caused a distortion in the original image?):

http://img504.imageshack.us/i/cimg1470a.jpg/

I am very anxious at the moment, and it's basically the only thing occupying my mind :S It's hard to combine with the amount of work I've got...

Please, any opinions are welcome!

A very big thank you to DadsWatch72, even though you've crushed my feelings I think it is extremely nice of you to keep a connection with me in this way, I'd rather that you'd say this than don't. You seem to be a truly good guy.

Thanks, David

From that picture it looks more like a Mark IV, but it still doesn't look right to me.
