Air King . . . Explorer II . . .

So, my 22 year old TT DJ 16013 in with the RSC getting made pretty again and I've fallen under the influence of some here on the forum. Last week I was visiting my local AD and took a shine to the Explorer II with a black dial. I posted about my visit and of course many of the members here (who are probably known as "the usual suspects") chimed in with do it, do it, etc. Well, I've been looking on this forum quite a bit and checking out other online sources, and gaining a lot of respect for the Air King. The little guy is growing on me.

I have an 8" wrist and never found the DateJust to be too small for my wrist. I'm wondering if some of y'all here with 8" or larger wrist wear a 34mm Rolex like the Air King? And, if you do wear a 34mm Rolex, have you found that any color looks better than others on a large wrist, like white, black or blue? Right now I'm wearing a 41mm Seiko Kinetic (backup watch) and it looks good, but after 22 years, I guess I've gotten use to a 36mm.

I'm sure the "usual supects" will not waste a moment in post something along the line of, "Hey, no problemo, just get both. "

If you love the look of the Air King but like the size of your DJ, why not look into an Explorer I?

Believe me, unfortunately the 34/36 mm is growing fast to the standard for ladies.
I do not welcome this development, much has been written about.
The EX2 is very comfortable and perhaps in the future even the small gents size of 40 mm

From personal experience, I have a black dial oyster precision and a white dial Air King. Both are 34mm but the AK looks bigger compared to the oyster precision. I do have a tiny wrist though.

X2 I believe that 34-36mm can be worn on casual or formal occasions. The maximum I would go for would be 40mm but I would only wear that for sports such as hinking and skiing. No way I would wear a 45mm. I tried it once but I looked like Flava Flave.

Fully agree, 40/42 mm is for me MAX.
As said bigger is not my idea

The Air-King is a well respected and durable Men's watch..

The "trend" of larger watches, particularly for women, is only a small segment who want their watch to be seen and them to be defined by that.. The overwhelming majority of men still wear a typically sized ~33 -36mm watch, with.. (except on watch forums of course)

All you need to do is go down and try them on... look in the mirror at your wrist because you will be deceived by just staring at the watch as many of the pie-pan on the wrist aficionados are deceived that they look "good"

For formal events, I wear this 34mm watch,

I like them both! I don't think there too small, but since I own an Air-King, you would expect that answer! LOL

As much as I like my AK, I think I like the Explorer 2 more (White dial)

Too similar, go for the Explorer II. Find a nice used example.
