Thinking of selling my Sub...
Well, I've been throwing around the idea of selling my 16800 for a couple of weeks now, but I'm still not 100%. I bought the watch as a gift to myself for graduating tradeschool, and I saved a really long time to get it, but the idea of walking around with a 4k watch on is, I dont really know how to explain it, is just not feeling right anymore. Money is not the reason for selling. I have the pictures on my camera ready to go up in the for sale section...
So, any opinions on what to do?

I would not sell!! But I don't know what your thoughts are about it....
If it's not sitting well with you,do what you must!! I think you may regret it if you do though...Just my Rob.

You may think twice about selling your Sub when you see the new price of the Subs coming out - $8,000+!

Since you bought it new and have had it a long time before you sell ask yourself if you will miss or regret it latter. Only you know your situation.Good luck either way.

If you're feeling that bad about having it on the wrist? maybe it is right to sell it. It's possible that the watch just wasn't meant for you. I like my 16613, but it doesn't have the same meaning or feeling it used to when I got it used. It just hasn't grown on me as much as I wish it would have.

do not sell
unless you need the money. Put the watch in the safe, it's only getting more valueable everyday

DO NOT sell.
I sold my Omega Planet Ocean a few weeks ago to fund a Panerai 312 and I regret it everyday. Not that I don't like the 312, but you don't really appreciate what you got until it's gone. DO NOT SELL. You saved up for it, you got it for graduating. KEEP IT. You deserve it. Just keep wearing it. And don't think about it as something you should be intimidated or reticent with wearing your Sub. It's YOUR sub and you should be proud of your accomplishments. You said you're not selling for the money so WHO CARES how much the sub costs on your wrist? It's a symbol of your resilience and perserverance. It's not a symbol of $4000 on your wrist. Keep it. You will regret selling it.

"Ditto"...
....put it out of sight for awhile.
Then see if it goes out of mind. If you regret it, and it had been already sold, it'll be too late by then. |

If money is truly not a reason to sell, then I say don't.
Put the watch away for awhile if you must, but now is a buyers market not a sellers. Your watch can be a part of your life, to keep you company through many adventures. You can sell and buy again, but it wil not be the same watch. I'd suggest giving it some time before you sell. BUT if you feel you ready now, then go for it. Only you will know. Either way, best of luck. |

Don't sell, you will definitely regret, I sold my GMT and Planet Ocean last year due to some economic hard times, now things are a bit better and I'm kicking myself everyday for not holding out a little longer. I still have my blue sub thank God.

money's not the reason...hmmmn... you probably are aware that it's human nature to shift and change...but in such times it's wrong to make big decisions: best to save those for when you feel grounded and consistent. This will be an emotional sale and one that you may well regret. Hold out in my view... do as JJ says: safe place and wait.

What do you plan to wear on your wrist after you sell it?
Very few watches will compare, quality-wise. And none will compare nostalgia-wise.

hold on to that watch for awhile. if in one or two months, you still want to sell it, do it then. this may well pass, and if it does, and the watch is gone, oops! too late!

If you sell it you will miss it and regret it and end up getting another one. It's a Rolex just one of the finer things in life, do you rather drink cheap wine? or expensive wine?, feel guilty driving your dream car? would you rather drive a cheap one? there is nothing wrong with owning and wearing nice things if you can afford it. this is temporary and you will get over it, for know put it away until that feeling is gone, for me if I had to wear a cheap watch like a Seiko for example it will change my mind and in 2 seconds I will want my Rolex back... This is how you will feel if you sell

Sounds like you have had a change of perspective. It could change back...but if you feel confident it won't, sell.

Dude I'm using my first post on this.
Please KEEP it. Like others suggest, put it away via safe or whatever and bring it out when you're ready to sell/wear again. |

JJ is 100% right. If you don't need the money hang on to it. Rolex watches are better than currency these days. Your watch probably won't loose value, unlike the USD. Stick it in a safe and forget about it either until you want to wear it, or you really have to sell it, which hopefully will be never!
Cheers! Quote:

No, don't sell it. Especially if money is not the reason.
You have memories tied to that watch being that it was a momento/gift for your achievement with finishing your schooling. It's a very special watch and a future replacement wouldn't have the same history behind it. If you decide to sell it, I think that you may terribly regret it one day. You worked hard for it and you deserve it. I agree with JJ & the others, if you don't feel comfortable wearing it now, put it away for a while. It's a classic watch that will never be out dated. I'm 100% positive that you will want to wear your rolex again. As the Rolex ads say " Rolex, A Crown For Every Achievement"I sure hope that you keep that "Crown" |

Sell it and buy a watch that is for you acceptable (terms value) to walk with?
Airking, Omega Speedmaster?
