Rolex recognises the importance of Women
I think we should all appreciate the role Rolex plays in the advancement of women and womens interests.
Rolex sponsor Womens Golf, Tennis and Equestrian events. Rolex also employs both directly and indirectly many women in its day to day business related operations. At the same time, it is anticipated that women (quite possibly much more than men): (a) spend significant sums on; (b) receive as presents in the form of- items of jewellery. Now as a watch is technically a piece of 'jewellery' then one has cause to consider that Rolex watches have the potential to be equally, if not more so popular among women as they are popular among men. The expression, "Diamonds are a girls best friend" is not lost on Rolex watches. In act there is a significant playing field on Rolex watches for diamonds to be encrusted. We have seen in the most recent yearly release of watches a whole range of women specific watches most of which are encrusted with precious jewels. Many women with high disposable incomes tend to like the style and name brands of 'Cartier' and 'Chanel' when considering watches. However, I think we will see Rolex, especially if recent activity is anything to go by, actively promoting the marketing Rolex watches for women with a greater enthusiasm than has never been seen before.

I'd be surprised to see lots of ads for iced versions to the mass market any time soon (male or female).
It would seem like bad timing to me.

I think you are right about marketing to women. There are many people who have not been impacted by the economy and I think women are earning more and have more to spend now, more so than any other time in history.

Yes, the news recently reported that there are more women working than men right now. Time's a changin'!
Maybe this little fella: should be a glass of chardonnay? I'd be happy if more women wore watches, help counter the 'I have a cell phone, don't need a watch to tell time' phenomenon.
