This does bring up an interesting moral question: When I'm down in lower Manhattan, am I morally better or morally worse for stealing a handful of watches from a stand ?

Every time I'm down there I'm more and more worried by how good the fakes are getting, especially of more obscure brands.

a few days ago i was over at a prison for immigration court and a visitor and a guard were looking at my ss sub date and telling me, 'oh, i've got a $100 one, that 's a fake too!'. I said: 'no, it's real, and real expensive.' there was his awkward moment of silence, and then everyone pretended the whole thing never happened and walked away...just another piece of the cultural pie, i guess. some people like to brag about how their fakes are heavy and look and feel real; to me, having a fake rolex is just nothing...nothing to brag about, and who wants anything fake in their life? especially something as gorgeous and elegant as a rolex? pas moi.

Now I know those are all fakes - but I can't help but worry that just ONE of them might be legit...lol
