Sub 14060 "Royal Navy" : real or fake ?
Hi,
I need your knowledge !!! I just came accross this watch, from a watch enthusiast I know. He proposed it to me for sale... according to him, it is supposed to be: - a true military Submariner - made for the Royal Navy - pvd coated I find it very intriguing ... Is it a real military watch, or just a modded one ? I knew about the famous 5517, with swords hands ... but I never saw something like that !! Thanks in advance, JJ |

There are no-date Subs that were made for the UK armed forces, but I don't think the one that you show is/was ever such a watch.

Agreed, however just how authentic are the hands and modified dial?
I don't believe that there is any information, that has been made public at least, concerning a military 14060. Its maybe a mil "wannabe" as most of the previous mil subs had the minute markers all the way around the bezel not just to the 15 minute mark as this one has. Are there any links showing this watch for sale?? edit: hang on a minute, I just woke up to this one....! it is definitely NOT a military issue watch. I believe the sword hands and T on the dial have been fitted to try and increase the value by purporting to be mil issue. The British military/Rolex would NOT put a "T" signifying the presence of tritium on a luminova dial......Q.E.D. |

Thanks for your answers, folks !!
Seems it's just someone who played with his real 14060 with aftermarket pieces to give it a military look ... Warm Regards from Paris to all TRFers, JJs |

X2 here. This watch came straight out of someone's imagination and an aftermarket parts bin.

May not be an original finish, but it looks cool. If its an authentic Rolex what does it matter what someone does to it to make it uniquely their own? They buy it, they wear it, they customize it!
