Thanks pal, love my watches, love my bikes

I’ve only been to one Rolex meetup, about 2 years ago organised by TRF boss Steve. It was a really great night. Hopefully we can do it again when the time is right.

Sounds a bit like recreational time in prison no?...
The Victorian Government were actually quite slow to ramp up another lockdown, with limits to movement including exercise, but an alarming amount of people who tested positive kept going out (who knows where to). At one point it was a third of all people in Melbourne with coronavirus who were doorknocked by the army and the health department to check they were home, were not home. Kept happening, while community transmission kept climbing.

Nice watch and nice bike OP. Kudos on the spirit you’re showing.
If your knees can take it, an hours run in cool weather would burn some serious calories.
Either ways, make sure you’re ending that ride/run with coffee and cake

Depends on your genes. Some will end up looking like a condom full of walnuts, others will just get sweaty.

I can’t run unfortunately. A broken back playing sport years ago put an end to that. But the bike I can handle. I’ve done over 200 kms in a day several times.

And a coffee and cake is mandatory

Are people allowed to go to the grocery store or Dr appointments?

It makes logical sense as far as I can see. And it is not about being monitored, it’s about people doing the right thing for their fellow citizens and self-monitoring their own behavior. We have been asked by our elected officials to make these small sacrifices so that there is a greater chance of stopping the virus spreading. We could cheat it easily, go further, go longer, go twice etc. but who and what are we cheating??

So yeah, I ride for one hour or walk for one hour and all within a 5km radius of my home. No problem on doing so. Those who flout the rules are self indulgent fools IMO.

We are living in strange times. Let’s hope things normalize and the ADs can reopen sooner rather than later. That way I can celebrate the continuance of mankind with a mechanical masterpiece

Lockdown Melbourne ride .... Pepsi on !

Grocery store is allowed by one member of each household, alone and only once per day. But you must only visit the closest store to your home so no shopping across town.

All medical visits are ok.

Going to work is only permitted if you are deemed to be working in an essential industry. Anything to do with food or medical services passed. Schools are closed, all lawyers and accountant offices etc are closed.

All retail except for food is closed. No new shoes or pjs for another 4 weeks unless it is online!

My company is deemed essential by these laws so I’m lucky, I get to go to work but I must carry a permit with me that states my occupation and work hours. Failure to produce it may result in a $1652 penalty, and these are dished out all the time to those not following the rules.

Fun times. But better than being on a ventilator....

Thank you. I feel blessed to have these things and to be safe right now.

Let’s hope 2020 has a silver lining for everyone. And I’m not just referring to the Sept 1st releases

Too old to ride a pushy on the road these days.

On my motorbikes I can be ahead of the pack.

Take care.
I’ve been working from home since mid March. Essential services, including to go from restaurants never stopped here. Almost all other businesses were closed until reopenings started being opened in phases. Exercise outdoors was never regulated. I had become almost a weekend warrior mountainbiker the last few years but starting around last November had started back riding a couple of times during the week too. Working from home has given me more time and a NEED to get out of the house to ride my bike and clear my head.
Old motorcycle roadracer myself but all mtb now. BTW, what a wild MotoGP race today!

We went through all of that during our hard lockdown.

We had a cigarette ban up until now and we just came out of our second booze ban. Gyms are only re-opening now after closing end of March.

And how did that work out? I can only imagine domestic abuse sky-rocketed when people were told to stay home and not allowed booze or cigarettes. Makes our lockdown seem like a dream!

You do 200k days in the saddle *and* smoke? You, sir, are superhuman!

Do you do around the bay, alpine classic or your own thing? I did the alpine 200 for a few years and this week was worn out after my 32k Sunday ride...

I hate getting old...

I cant wrap my head around the positivity of being locked down like this. Please dont ever move to America, your general apathy or acceptance of these asinine rules and restrictions over your freedom are not compatible with American tradition of liberty. That said, beautiful bike and timepiece!

Well actually the sale of illegal cigarettes (often of poorer quality) and alcohol skyrocketed. Lots of stories of government officials profiting out of illegal sales etc. Always have to question the motives behind these decisions, as they are very often not out of genuine concern for the citizens.
