Many shop has in UK, security door in case of thief or gangster. All money converter and jewellery shop has lock door system. If they don't see you they don't open door. Or once you in door lock. !!!

SO, why you can not see this in ISTANBUL ? I am world wide backpacker traveler. If you see country with lots of security system it is telling you, there is SECURYTY ALERT !!!

You can absolutely wear a Rolex anywhere in Istanbul. It's a very safe city, so nothing to be worried about.

I have been in Istanbul several times. All I can say is it's by far the most tourist friendly city I have ever been. Couldn't find the way and a guy came to me and walked me to my destination for 25 minutes (and all the way back).

Next day I had to buy a bus ticket and seemed to have not enough coins, when a Turkish man came out of is little shop and gave me some coins. I was astonished.

Same evening I ate at a restaurant and ordered something which appeared to be sheep meat. I said I didn't like it and asked for something different. Of course I was going to pay for it but the kind man refused.

So all I can say, Turkish people are amazing based on my experiences. They aren't the people who want to steal your Rollie. Of course always be careful :)

I believe it's better to be cautious. I would leave the watch in the bank safe and have one less thing to worry about.

after 3 days in istanbul
yes it is safe to wear rolex almost everywhere
you will noticr alot of people wearing rolex an patek philipe and other brands

What a strange question to ask !

If you ask the same q, for South Africa (Johannesburg) or Maputo then over there, does not really matter what you wear, there are higher chances to be mugged for even casio too.

Of course, if you just want to visit backstreets of questionable neighboorhoods then you might have a problem but then again, please tell me a city that you wouldn't have this issue !

With this mentality, you might get mugged anywhere,

Hello TRF! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted and I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy out there. I’m resurrecting this 6 year old thread because I’m headed over to Istanbul and Cappadocia tomorrow. I’m still debating whether or not I want to wear my EXPII while on the trip? Im very self aware and always know my surroundings. It will be on my wrist 24/7, I won’t leave it at the hotel and we won’t be traveling down back alleys at 2am either. We will be doing the typical touristy stuff during the day and dinner / drinks at night. This old thread was very in favor of it being safe to wear 6 years ago, but I’m just seeing if that is still the same sentiment now? I know every city has its issues, even my hometown of Atlanta. And I know the “is it safe to wear threads” get on some people’s nerves too so my apologies in advance. But I’m just wondering what everyone’s thoughts were! Thanks again!

I'd feel much more comfortable wearing Rolex (or other expensive watches) in Istanbul than in London. Crime rates in London are appalling!

As long as your mind isn’t preoccupied about it, I’d say you’re good.

I wore mine in The Philippines for a few weeks and I was fine. I threw it in a hidden zip pocket a few times because it was so crowded, I was getting bumped into a lot.

However, I would have done that no matter where I was.
