+1 to this! Or maybe a 116519LN... but then again you'll just have another Daytona but WG and on OF

How's your AD relationship? If good I'd get a Aquanaut 5164. Totally different design and function than Daytona

I agree with most everyone here. Put it on OF

Or just say F it and get a full PM something. DD, Sub, GMT, etc

I’d keep it. But because I’m in love with mine. If I had to trade it would be for the AP offshore.

Given your current collection of an 1803 and a PP3940, maybe something in steel is needed in your collection. It's a good time to trade up, so I would suggest looking for a 16520 white if you like the Daytona but not the 116500.

You realize the delta here is somewhere north of $60k? I wouldn’t call that a trade.

Perhaps a VC Overseas, or the 321 Speedmaster. A chrono with actual and not manufactured hype.

Do it. If you want to upscale to a sports the RO (15450,15400,15500) is the way to go. If not, a dresswatch from Patek or Lange.

Thank you all for the good thoughts!

Thinking about it - I like this or the yellow gold champagne dial quite a lot. Leaning dress watch or AP, but this is a strong contender.

3. Whilst I love the red 1680. Will it be substantial enough given the feel of modern watches?

What you said about it not being a 35k watch is bang on. It's a weird situation as knowing watches have increased in value is nice to know you won't lose your shirt. But the other side of the coin is you may lose a limb given the values are known. I definitely have to consider what to wear and when. Perhaps subconsciously this is forming part of your decision? If it's purely bracelet based then get a rubber B and crack on!
1. Think I'd be OK with never having it again...who knows?
2. Annoyed, but I sold a 5167 last year for $30k so at least the feeling is familiar.
3. I think the dinkiness of vintage bracelets makes them super comfortable, but the value seems off.
4. A lot folks brought up the OF / rubber bracelet. Might need to give it a try.
5. The fact that Daytona is so recognizable only bothers me from the standpoint that it demonstrates no horological creativity. DUH the Daytona is awesome.

To be fair, I bought it for $20k from HQ Milton / Jacek 3 years ago.

I personally find the SS Daytona a bit boring. But in gold (either yellow, white or rose), it is a completely different piece and is a great balance between sporty, elegant and go (almost) anywhere kind of watch.
The yellow gold / champagne dial is bonkers!!! Not sure how the OF would fit my skinny 6.25'' wrist.

If you no longer love any watch, I'd move it for something you do love. This is a hobbyist/collector mentality, of course, not a dealer mentality.
Wise words - just own it cuz you love it. I think the main reason it has stayed is versatility, not love.

This is the fear...to be fair, I've probably worn it <10 times in the last 6 months. I do love it when I look at it!

The ROO Ghost is just such a guilty pleasure. Can't imagine spending $35k on a guilty pleasure, but i'm definitely tempted

No AD relationships; otherwise I'd do this in a heartbeat and jump up to the 5164R.

When the desire for a hype piece or a F*** you piece (ROO) subsides...dress watches are more my style. Any particular in that price range that you love?

Its why Daytona's are readily available on the pre-owned market. It's a great watch at retail but hard to justify at the used market price when you paid retail and have experienced the watch. It's very hard for some owners not to cash out and take the profit. If you are ready to move on, yes trade it, and get something more interesting to you.
