If this continues worldwide then we should surely expect to start seeing empty shelves in the Omega section? As we all know Rolex sells more watches each year than Omega, yet the Omega displays are full and the Rolex displays are empty.

Toronto, Canada. Rolex is nowhere to be found. Sometimes you’ll find crappy DJs and OPs in display cases.

What constitutes a crappy OP? Lol. Maybe a 28mm? We don’t even have those.

I was surprised to see several non-sport (except for 1 Yachtmaster II) on display at my AD today. They were tagged as for exhibition only. Last time I was there the cupboards were bare.

I just go to 47th street get pretty much whatever I want. But obviously way over prices compared to retail. All the same dealers I used to buy watches from are hoping this lasts.

AD has most popular models in their save, just not displaying and only give to their VIPs. Dump couple hundred thousands then the waiting time may just be few minutes or few days.

I'm hearing from my AD that things are getting better now but they simply can't put the stock out on display because that would encourage anyone and everyone to walk in.

St Petersburg Russia. We have 2 Rolex stores in a city, they have mostly ladies watches on display, but they also have some two tone Datejust as well. I just picked up DJ II 116300 last week - I visited one butique in early January and in early February got a call. Though Russian retail is higher than in the US or Europe, 116300 on a jubilee bracelet is about $9500 at the current exchange rate.

How about "never?" Does never work for you?

Rolex means pay or don't play. And all the meaningless, "I hope, I hope" chatter in the world will not change that.
Can you name any mania in history that has lasted forever? Any economic boom that never went into decline? Dont be a fool. This new money will dry up as it always does.

Didn't the AP and Patek hype start before Rolex and still continues today? So since it's still continually going that should count forever. That's two of them...

I’m not sure I agree. I don’t know that either extreme will happen but eventually, there will be more of a balance between supply and demand. When? Not sure. Maybe it will take a new financial crisis (I hope not) or some other macro event. When they happens, the greys will have to pull back their prices. Maybe not to pre-madness level, but they will come down.

I mean does the fact that they are all watch companies make them part of the same bubble? Everything else about them is different.

Certain Ferraris and Porches have been difficult to get for a very long time. In the past year Ford Broncos have become hard to get. Are these companies in the same bubble?

It's all relative. What if the prices go up another 15% and then "come down" 10%. They are still up.

The world is a small place with the internet and social media. Anyone can sell anything anywhere; it is different to find a Rolex stash waiting for buyers.

Frankly speaking, I never saw such a thing. The Omega Boutique is only a few steps away and it’s LOADED.

For Aeschlimann CEO of Omega, Customer satisfaction is a top priority
I can not say the same for the Rolex CEO Dufour.

Well none of that matter when more people are still buying way more Rolex watches than Omega watches....

How’s the Rolex shortage in your country?

There is no shortly for the customers they prefer. The ADs are doing better than ever - the empty cases are because the watches are sold before they hit the case. So in fact, there is no issue for ADs, only for the customers that are being place on imaginary “lists”.

It’s business as usual and better. I advise anyone that haven’t gotten a call in 6 months for simple pieces like Subs / YM / DJ to go elsewhere

If you think Rolex is hard, try AP. Nearly impossible. Makes Rolex seems like Disneyland.

I was visiting an AD in France and they told me the « expositions only » pieces are just regular pieces that are probably already allocated. They have to show a minimum number of pieces to show something to clients. Beside that they have « no pieces to sell » but in the back there are a couple if you really are a VIP there.

Why would you pull something out of a box to get scratched and put it in a window if it’s already sold before it comes in as they all are because they can sell a full delivery in an hour with some phone calls to the 100s on a list?

Sound business for me.

There’s stock, we got a cermit, air king, fluted datejust and ym platinum bezel in six months. The stock is there, but it’s already sold.

What a business model they’ve created!
