I like chronographs, the "busy" look and the function even if I don't use it daily. I love the size, I do not think of it as small as many fixate on. It is an extremely comfortable watch, thin and well balanced. It will never be as legible as a basic 3 hand time only watch but I'm old and can tell time at a glance with it. And lastly they are as rugged as any of Rolex's other professional models, my black 116520 was pretty much my daily from 2004-08.

Although it's currently back on its bracelet, my ceramic spent over a year on an OEM Oysterflex with Smarty endlinks. OP, might I suggest having Aaron at Combat Straps make you a custom stingray strap for your's, he can do many colors of material and stitching.
That strap makes your Daytona look 10x better. It's like somehow the bezel never-ending. proportional and the subdials appear to be the proper Panda configuration and just overall less cluttered....oh wait, nevermind.

I was never interested in a Daytona until last year when something clicked for me. Have had mine for a month and love it.

The best white dial

One of my favorite shots; definitely the lighting! The Platona has so many different looks.

I started with the WG then added the SS. As good as the SS is, it can’t really compare to the white gold. That piece is simply incredible.

I suspect some of the negative comments come from those who can’t get one from an AD and won’t pay the grey price. Those two factors can leave a bitter taste that perhaps can turn into resentment. Some truly won’t like it anyway, it’s personal taste.

But I think to truly appreciate a Daytona you need to own one. I don’t suspect that many owners will have a bad thing to say.

An excellent thread. Still have all of my Daytonas - from a very early thin hands 116520 with the first in house chrono movement to the 116500. Still awaiting the call for a black dial. :)

As someone that has always loved cars and motorsports the Daytona is a natural choice. I have other references but the Daytona will always be the one.

Great shots, all.

The lack of date makes it simple and easy to set the time when it’s time on the wrist.
