We all know the answer but
Buying a sub produces a stainless steel miricle that will last a lifetime wrapped around my wrist. here is something just for laughs. 1. You idiot! You could travel to Mallorca 5 times for that money!. A vacation only produces memories a pictures. 2. You stupido! What about renewing the bathroom you promised me! Do i look like a plumber? or I got a price but the Rolex was cheaper... 3. Thats why you gave me your Tag Aquaracer wasnt it!!?! Yep that POS needed another home. 4. What about the ski trip you was talking about!! There will be snow next week when i go there I still havent a ring on my finger because it was to expensive??!!PIG! Tell her you just could not find the right one for you yet. But do not worry this watch will due over a ring any day for the day you get married. |

Some of the responses on this thread.............wow
Would you want someone to treat your mother or sister the way some of these posts advocate?! Look, I would never buy an expensive item without speaking to my wife about it first. I would never ever go behind her back and betray her that way, not because I am afraid of her but because I love her and respect her opinion. Doesn't make me less of a man, it just makes me............honest. Maybe this thread has been one big joke and I'm being uptight, but man I just don't get it. |

You have some good points Richard...but if I read this correctly, the woman is still this guy's girlfriend / not wife.
While I respect the trust you need in that level of a relationship, it is still a ways away from joint purchase habits etc. ( EDIT ) but I don't advocate some of the recommendations here to be sure. |

If you plan to marry her, buy her a ring first. If not, why do you really care???

Some of the comments are pretty funny. His & hers is what I usually offer to placate my better half. Of course most of the time I know she is not interested anyways.

Seems to me that there are a lot of sounding men on THIS Forum.
You are either in a relationship or you're not - your call mate.

A wise man once told me:
"It is better to ask for forgiveness than permission." But seriously if it is going to affect your relationship negatively, you have to ask yourself which is more important. Good luck |

Either
buy her something nice eg flowers, car, watch, necklace etc. or buy a roll of duc-tape and tie her up over the week-end...

Funny .... At the moment it is my wife pushing me towards buying another watch , Ok it is not an SS Rolex ( which is the same as "boring" to her ) but actually more expensive . It is however me being the "reasonable" one this time by saying it is a bit over my "toys" budget . Still may go for it after all ...

You need to give her a present of equal or better value. No exceptions. Let HER...
pick out the jewellery she wants as recompense for letting you blow thousands on a watch. I did this for my gf and she ended up getting a custom-designed platinum ring with ten diamonds of the highest possible quality. It came out so beautiful the jeweller has borrowed it back for jewellery shows. Sometimes, if a light is shining on my gf's hand, the room has little twinkling lights on the walls and ceiling like a discotheque. It cost me a bomb, but she NEVER complains about the watches I buy. It was WORTH going into hock for the rest on my life. Seriously.

Just tell her that, "With the money I spend now on a nice watch, I will never have to buy another the rest of my life"!
