Thanks guys. I checked this thread again as I head out the door. I have a few important things to do today, not the least of which is finding employment again. There simply doesn't seem to be any in south Florida these days.
I have a school appointment as well. Its going to be a busy day indeed. Hopefully a productive one! At least its Friday, cause its been a very long week. Here is the Speedmaster that is keeping me company. She is a 1969, Pre Moon model. The bracelet is not correct, but I thought it looked great on steel, after having it on NASA velcro for a while. Onward and upward.... |

A Speedy is a heck of a nice watch and will last you 3 lifetimes. Life is good.

I think you made the correct decision. Hopefully there will be opportunities later on getting the Rolexes back, and the Speedmaster is such a classic.
I hope things work out, and one thing is sure: You will enjoy that Omega even more now ;-) Best, A |

Like many have already said watches, no matter how special they are to you, are just things. When it comes right down to it if I need to feed the family, I sell them all. A Speedmaster is a classic watch to be proud of, I love mine. Be secure in the thought that you've done the right thing for you and yours and someday down the road when times are better and more stable you can get that Rolex back if you still desire. Kind of cool to think that your Speedy is with you through thick and thin. Best of luck to you and your search.

Bottom Line....you can't eat a Rolex ! I hope , with all my heart, that your situation
improves in the very near future. I didn't have any spare cash until I was in my 60's, the usual reasons prevailed...raising kids and educating them, then getting them to leave home, then lending them money and waiting years to get it back. Now the wife and I are Free ! God bless and protect you and yours. |

Thank you all for the motivating words.
Im actually going to meet with an adviser at the university today. I figure I'll finish my degree in nursing and then I should be able to always have a steady job. I had started my course work about four years ago, but my mom had cancer which came out of remission for the third time. I quit school and moved back home to help my brother care for her. She didn't beat it as she had in the past. I figure its never too late to go back to school and finish what I started. Even if it takes me five years or more I will get another Rolex or two. I actually feel much better knowing it's not just me. We all hit rough times it seems. I have my Omega to keep my company until then. I will do all I can to hold onto it. Its the double edged side of having nice things, when things are bad its too easy to sell them for good money. |

That's a sharp Speedmaster.
Glad you'll still be here, though. You're all right. |
