Can't believe someone would do this to a sub...

This watch definitely does not have any value now but I dont think it looks that bad...There are unattractive original Rolex designs than this...Have you seen Leopard daytona?

Put it this way - if Rolex was to come up with a similar original design with a platinum bezel and platinum dial on a Sub everyone would be so excited...Isnt that right?

The only way they could have made it worse was if they put it on a nato.

Is this from personal experience, Jim?

I see a very long discussion about this watch.

Liking or disliking something is a personal preference and everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion.
This particular watch was actually put together for a real person. I know it is hard to believe and most people who visit this great forum (which I like myself and have a great respect for its members) won't approve such modifications done to Rolex; but the reality is that people do go crazy.... or should I say "creative".

Some people like all-original Rolex. I've met people who don't want their Rolex to be polished, because it will "kills" the character of the watch. All these are personal choices. However, some people purchase used Rolex watches and want to make changes, personalize them. There is nothing wrong with it too - after all, they bought that watch and it's belongs to them, not to Rolex or society :)

This Submariner was sent to us without any bezel at all, it had a very significant water damage (enough for Rolex to refuse service - don't know it its true, but that my customer said). The watchmaker serviced there watch, replaced a bunch of parts; I refinished the dial, customer asked for "unique" bezel and that bezel was as unique as it came to my mind. :)

Now... was it wrong? Maybe, to some people, but not to everyone. This watch is certainly not a "collector's item" and never meant to be one, but the customer was happy. That's all that counts, at least for me. :)
