I've found that after wearing it a while, all other watches seem small. But it is an acquired taste.

After all is said and done...
Had one for about six months and I can not justify the need for a watch with those proportions...IMHO..however very glad you are enjoying yours!

Steve, ironic that you bring up my location because I'm in Marthas Vineyard, MA for a wedding as we speak. Been here since Wed. I must be getting soft in CA because the heat here is TOUGH to take! Can you say 'swamp ass'!!??

I love my DSSD far more than any other watch I have owned. I originally bought it to move my name up the waiting list for a BD SS Daytona. I no longer want a Daytona. I love the DSSD too much to wear anything else. My other fine watches are in the safe deposit box.

That's a shame, Sixxgrand1, because for my money you have the best trio of watches in the world. Can I ask what it is that specifically bothers you about the DSSD?

No one can really that this watch isn't oversized, there is just no way around that fact. It is the thickness of the case + weight that is the main issue for most people I would assume. If you have thin/small wrist I doubt the watch will be comfortable

however, one thing I DO know is that my heart is definitely growing fonder and fonder than ever with my DSSD!!! I find it VERY HARD to take it off at nights when I hit the sack in fact. Total infactuation you might say. Absolutely love the form, function and overall style of the monster, yeah, talk about eye candy for me anyway!!!! This probably also tells me that I made a solid purchase with this timepiece, as the happiness and joy is literally immeasurable. Yes, continue to enjoy your WINNER all right. BEST REGARDS |

Completely agree. I absolutely love the DSSD more and more each day. I have a few watches and they all feel undersized; quickly I return to the DSSD. If you have ever worn or owned a Panerai, it's hard to say in good conscience that the DSSD is oversized. In fairness, if it weren't for this watch, I probably wouldn't own any Rolexes. For me, it really is the watch to end all watches. :)

Just so glad I brought mine for this trip. Love it. Great write up. And spot on. You have to keep the watch on... Then it just clicks. After every rotation.

Well nothing really bothered my about it...amazing timepiece for certain. Personally I found the face a little small and busy for the size of the watch, the date window should have been larger..and overall I found it too heavy for a daily wearer..

To me it felt "right" from day one. Though I have various watches, the DSSD gets the most wrist time and I just love it. Anyone considering buying one, should not have any concerns.

All other Rolex models felt small to me especially in today's larger styles. I had a few PAMs and also Breitling's over the years and favored their size over my Sea Dweller 4000...
When I heard the DSSD was going to be released a couple of years ago I knew I wanted it. When I tried it on for the first time and looked at...I knew it would be mine someday. I own one for 3 months or so and I love it more and more. It's unique..it's big, bad and beautiful!

I wished roles made a modern sized sports watch to capitalize on the large case watch trend. They did I bought it and I am very happy! I have 6 1/2 inch wrists too!

Dssd
Great thread and great post!
The DSSD is one of my favorite watches and your post pretty much sums up how my love affair started with the exception of this being my fourth DSSD. I have traded or sold this watch a number of times only to come to my senses and buy another one! Each time I feel that it may be tough to get adjusted but in fact it is just getting used to such a great size being so comfortable. This is on of the most comfortable watches that I have ever worn and I am amazed that few people comment on it. All of the early complaints on this watch have turned out to be really great features on it. As an example, the bracelet solicited quite a few negative comments in the early goings, but I think it is a great innovation. The apparent small size and width great enhances the comfort in long term wear of this watch. The writing and/or appearance of the dial has proven to not be "too busy" but rather just right. I find the crystal to be amazing and the matte finish dial itself is vintage and modern all in one. The most amazing thing about this watch is the way our community has rallied around it and accepted it in a very passionate way. Our community is passionate and maybe a little critical to changes, but we seem to embrace these changes when they are proven to be right. Amazing watches draw amazing people! |

Dssd
I wear my Breitling for Bentley 6.75 with my slim fitting suits and I've had many compliments on how good it looks with my suits. The 6.75 is 48mm. The DSSD is 43mm and very classy looking and is the king of the sea. The DSSD compliments the suit. I think the DSSD looks great with dress shirt, slacks and a pair of santoni's. My wife wears the sub with her dress and fancy shoes.

Had the DS since April of 2010. Was going to be my weekend watch. Lord n behold now my daily wearer. Took the sub-date out for a couple of hours but went back into the safe. DS back on. To me ; its the best engineered watch Rolex makes period.
