Hi
Thanks for the response Judging by the number of 'thumbsup', it will be quite a while for the hunting to go on. I am sure I am not going to be the only one in the hunting-ground. If I think the opportunity to acquire one is going to be difficult, I shall come back to this forum, for advice on another model that does not have a long queue - probably, a non-sports model. Thank you. |

Here are a few comparison shots I took of my 16660 SD vs the DSSD. Obviously this SD is a gloss tritium rather than a matte tritium dial, but you can get an idea of the overall relative sizes of the two watches. The 16660 is a substantial watch in terms of size, but it doesn't look or feel that way when compared to the DSSD. Both are terrific watches obviously, but among the factors influencing your decision, you'll definitely want to carefully consider the overall size difference, since it's quite substantial.

The size difference is quite dramatic (especially on the picture showing the gas escape valves. On this picture, the DSSD really looks like a tank).

16660 all the way! I'm not a fan of the DSSD myself.

Could not agree more, I have had 2 dssd's and ended up flipping them both. I love the size but it is waaaaayyyyy too top heavy. I flipped for a Panerai 297 which is the same size and even heavier I think but you dont even know you are wearing it

You are very right my friend...I am a tall guy 6'1" / 210lbs and I tirade in my GMT 2 for a DSSD 116660 and I notice that the DSSD look good on my wrest but not comfortable for everyday wear...maybe I need some time to adjust on the size and weight...But still my favorite watch in the world to have it.

I have both and both are brilliant !!!
For a daily wearer and understated classic look with function, the 16600 is a first choice. They don't made them any more and the radical change Rolex have made to the 116600, which many cannot wear because of the large size, will make the 16600 exponentially in demand, especially the last V- series batch.

Had a SD4000 for over ten years, and wore it proudly until I got the beast!!! Sold the SD-4000 about a month after getting the DSSD, and have not looked back since.
GO DEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck with your decision! |
