The one thing I can tell you is that England has "different" opinions on this. I've been to weddings and other formal events in both and in my experience Americans are much more likely to wear a very informal watch like a G-shock with a suit.
Americans are much more forgiving about these things and even though most people on this forum disagree, you don't wear an Explorer with a suit IMO. I mean really an explorer with french cuffs ? When you have a 5001 ? I would advise you take two. |

I wore my polar 42mm Explorer II with in a tux as best man in a wedding and I got nothing but compliments. In fact I prefer to wear the white dial with dark suits and my Sub with light colored summer suits. The contrast really makes the watch pop.

I'd wear the ExpII with no worries. All else fails go for the Daytona.
