I have larger wrists and build too... I Agree on AP, also can check out IWC (Big Pilot, Big Ingen, Vintage Pilot). Those are a few nice larger cased models under $10k. Blancpain FF is an awesome looking 45mm watch, though it will look like your DSSD.

I initially was gathering a diverse collection, but have since gravitated back to just Rolex and Panerai.......could be very tempted by an AP though, I think some of their references are beautiful.....

I am just the opposite ...
I Love the earlier 36mm Day-Date and 40mm divers. I have a 7.5" wrist so that is why. I feel I have the best of both in the 118206 Day-Date and the 16600 Sea Dweller. Cheers-Ron

The only other luxury brand that I have a slight interest in is AP.

A mix here too, a Panerai, a Navitimer, an Omega, two pieces from an indie watchmaker in Reykjavik and of course my Rolex GMT II C.

Personally I will never own more than 1 of a particular brand in my collection at any given time. I currently own Patek, Rolex, ALS, JLC, AP, and Cartier. Each appeals to me in their own special way and each brand has it's own history and legacy. With so many wonderful Manufacturers to chose from, why limit your spending dollars to one brand? Just my $0.02.

I agree 100% stock jock..... Not sayin I would NEVER have two of the same brand, but it seems like these days I only like one model or so from any particular manufacturer.

I recently bought a Bell & Ross BR03-92 as my second "good" watch (first is my SS DJ), and I must say I love it. It looks great, and complements the DJ very well (in terms of being very different). Some great things about Bell & Ross are that is has a dedicated following, and it's very conducive to switching-up straps. With the larger wrists, OP would likely prefer the BR01 line.

I've always liked Sub's & GMT's so I have based my collection around that.

Yes, I never worried too much about that because I don't really expect to sell, but they certainly don't hold value like a Rolex. On the plus side, they are not as expensive.

There are way to many great brands to just wear a Rolex.

After buying a couple of 116234 DJ's, GMTIIc, and Brietling for Bentley GT (original dial), I took the B&R plunge due to how different they are and the fact that I engineer various mil aircraft. I went with a limited edition (BR01-94Yel, 500 made) and a discount I couldn't refuse. Highly recommend as they are a fun watch to wear and I get compliments all the time on it. Look to add Cartier calibre later to diversify further, since that is Cartier's first in house movement.

For last few years it has been strictly Rolex. But recently I had the opportunity to trade for an AP ROO Volcano. It didn't just sing to me, It seduced me. It is first watch I've had that actually looked better in person (mostly because of the incredible photography on TRF).
I guess my other fear was opening the door for another malady, just when I thought I had a handle on Rolex fever! |

No prob soho. Thus far, I've really enjoyed it...aviation inspired, limited to 500 pieces, yellow really pops, different strap options, chrono, etc... Can you tell I like it?

The way I want my collection to go, I want to have definitive and iconic pieces - as far as modern Rolex goes, that means I am restricted to the GMT IIc and 42mm Explorer II (as I think that Rolex makes the best GMT watches bar none). The rest of the range, for me, doesn't cut the mustard. I would like to add, however, that I would like to add a 1680 or 5512/5513 (the three definitive Submariner references, in my opinion), and a 1675, I really think the 60s and 70s were Rolex's greatest decades.
As for what else I would like: Omega cal. 8500 Planet Ocean 45.5mm (for the movement, build quality and mean look) Tudor Pelagos (a serious answer to what a real dive watch should be, in my opinion this is the watch the SubC should have been) Audemars Pigeut Royal Oak (iconic Genta design, plus beautiful movement) JLC Memovox (ticks all the right boxes for a dress watch, plus I love the alarm complication) Lange & Sohne Datograph (because it has the most utterly gorgeous movement, it's a true work of art) Hope this gives you an idea into my watch collecting psyche Chris |

I started this habit loving Rolex (the gateway drug) Then I started looking at other brands like Panerai, AP, Breitling, PP, ect. I really could just get 20 watches over the years and have a vast collection, but I know they mostly will sit around and only a few that I love most will see wrist time. So I have decided to stick with 2 primary brands, Rolex and AP. I may still throw in a PAM 312 or 372 too, but who knows. If I can stay at 6 or 7 watches I think that will be more than enough. But I may change my mind and want more or less as time goes on...
