To say that someone has an unpronounceable name because he comes from a different country is not racist or offensive against ethnicity.
Chinese people have unpronounceable names in the west and they don't feel offended by that, the same goes to western people in Asia, and they don't feel offended or discriminated because the Chinese cannot pronounce or memorize their names properly. I have an unpronounceable name in the country where I live, because people here are just not used to my name, it is a foreign name. I never felt offended by that or felt discriminated or thought that people were racist by that. If I would marry a polish girl she would use my unpronounceable surname which she would of course be worried about, but I would not feel discriminated or thought my ethnicity was being offended.

Don't let this discourage you from buying from a grey seller, there are many, many wonderful people on this forum and quite a few of them happen to sell watches around here on a daily basis. All you need to do is buy the seller and many of them have a solid gold reputation.

A quick search through the 'Buyers & Sellers who's who" section, will reveal many top notch and trusted sellers that frequent this site......no need to be discouraged!

I know exactly how you feel. After getting bamboozeled on EBAY and then waiting to get my money back from the EBAY buyer protection program. You can see my trepidation on buying a Rolex on a forum like this through a "trusted seller" (oh yeah says who?? lol) but I did my due diligence, took the plunge and am now the proud owner of a mint 16610 sub.. Do your research (I cant stress this enough) don't be afraid to ask pressing questions. Lets just say I had a flawless transaction and even made a new friend! I mean who in this day and age has $5000+ to throw away.. Read my post history. :)

Yikes Kikorm, sorry you had to waste your time trying to deal with someone dishonest, but I'm happy you didn't take a substantial monetary loss, and I thank you for alerting the community of a potential fraudster. Please don't take this as an insult, but I would always stay very far away from any "seller" with a name like Bane_of_your_life! He definitely revealed the true nature of his character in his responses to this thread.

Patrick, I understand your sentiments, but please don't let the random horror stories of a rotten apple or two dissuade you from saving a significant amount of money by purchasing via the TRF for sale forum. TRF is a fantastic horological resource with an outstanding moderator team that works very hard to keep the community safe from criminals. My advice for you is to do an advanced search in the for sale forum for "sold" in the topic title, and look at the names that reappear on the first 5 pages or so. This should give you an idea of some of the upstanding sellers that do a lot of business on the forum. Good luck! Can't wait to see a wrist shot of your first Rolex

I am still pretty convinced I will buy my first Rolex via this excellent forum. I just posted what I want in the WTB section and I am checking the For Sale section to see if something appears.

I am not at all discouraged by what happened, only minor consequences and a valuable lesson for me that I was happy to be able to share here in the forum, so that u all could benefit from the unpleasant experience.

I wouldn't be discouraged except to understand that like most things you have to do your homework.......there are countless posts praising many sellers here, I recommend that as a great place to start
