Chalk one up for the Explorer II models as the bezel would not have come off in this situation. One of the many reasons I wear a 16570 is never having to worry about catching or banging the bezel in any way. I hope that yours can be repaired quickly and inexpensively.
How are you so sure the explores bezel would not have come off?

Having looked at a 216570 very closely I can say that the bezel seems to be a lot less likely to come off. It also seems like it's stronger and obviously less likely to crack.

However will scratch more than the SubC and doesn't look anywhere near as good imo.

I'm assuming the ballbearings, multiple components and movement of the bezel contribute to it being more likely to come off. Then again I have no technical proof and may be completely wrong

So much for Rolex toughness.
the dude fell off of the second floor of the building, and it looks like stuff just popped off not broke, i'd say it's a pretty tough design

sorry to hear about the fall.

if there's a bright side to this story, it's the damage to the watch and how the supposedly "super fragile" ceramic survived no problem.

or, you were just really lucky.

Ironic this just came up. I was speaking with a sales guy at an AD, and stated as much as I like the new Sub-c upgrades, I don't care for how many horror stories I have heard of the bezels coming off. He said this was new to him, which I wouldn't have expected anything less.

The people that this may happen to is few and far between, wouldn't stop me from buying an awesome watch. If you really worry that much about damage to your watch, just insure it.The cost is usually around $10 bucks per thousand of value, could be done by your local homeowners agent.
