You've been too nice, Paul. I would have offed the sucker after the second post, if not sooner.

Adam, you will be watched very closely by the mod staff. One more preachy post by you will be your last one here, if you get my point. Cut out the bible quoting stuff and you may survive here. Not everyone shares your religious beliefs.

One might think that. I couldn't possibly comment, however.

As for you, my friend, go back to mooning over your lost loves (and Jocke).

I was going to send watches, but I'll send you some positive energy instead.
This too shall pass.
The best medicine is to move on as quick as you're able, and focus on what's good in your life.

(and maybe a wee bit of single malt)

Wow, Lisa, now isn't that really 'old school' or however people refer to it.
People sometimes insist on limiting their options and eveyone else's at the same time.........a real shame, your grandfather reacted the way he did.

Well, it was the 1940s.

Lavaman, I'm still troubled by your girlfriend's behavior. There has to be more the the situation. As has been mentioned before, the problem may very well lie within her own family. Families may seem pretty normal to outsiders, but, well, insiders know better.

Only my own opinon why does meeting someone's father really matter? I have been through what you have and it hurts...and it will get better. Our problems were a lot more serious meeting her father

A quick $.02. Any time I hear somebody say "you're marrying [the person], not the family", I can tell you from experience, they're out of their mind.

Life's a roller coaster isn't it.
My experience has been that often with the benefit of hindsight, things happen for the best.
Hope that turns out to be the case for you as well.
Not religious (and would miss any of my watches terribly) so will send positive vibes instead.

Lavaman, things can get misunderstood on the net, so I write this respectfully: don't look at the past. Don't analyse the past. Turn your back on it & look forward. Hindsight is a perfect science- we all now what we should have done looking back.

The past is a useful tool for planning the future. Use it objectively. Engineer a future where you'll meet someone who will introduce you to all of her family & they will appreciate you & you family. Don't give your ex a second thought. Use your energy for creating a more comfortable future that is suited to you & your son.

You're not a silly boy at all. You're human with human strengths & weakness.

Remember: "When you're going through hell- keep going"

good karma today please for a little boy who does not understand why its been 5 months since he has seen his friend, who used to come over every weekend. He doesn't understand why they don't play anymore and why she doesn't tuck him in, or go to the park with him. And he doesn't understand why her and Daddy had an argument and why they cant just patch it up. And Dad doesn't really understand either.....but my son thinks it's his fault. And it tears me apart. (His mom died a few years ago)
