Thinking of trading my 116520 Daytona for a VC Overseas Chronograph

The VC definitely has some things going for it, but I the Daytona wins in my book. For me, I don't have to worry about my Daytona no matter what I'm doing. It's my daily watch and takes a beating; swimming, working in the yard/house, traveling, whatever. Would the VC have that same level of durability?

There are a lot of fans of the Daytona look, and it is a classic grail watch for many people. Used, the Daytona will probably run about 5k less and the Daytona will probably hold its value better down the road.
But even though I have a recent thread about possibly trading my Daytona for a Glashutte original, my feelings about the watches can be summarized by the bottom row of this picture.

I think all three make a great collection

The VC Overseas is rated 100M just like the Daytona, but I think it is supposed to be more durable (not that the Daytona is not durable), because VC has said that it is ok to dive and scuba with this watch. But realistically I wouldnt do that with either watch.....

Now I am considering if I want to trade my SS Daytona for a white gold 116509 or a 11519 instead. I think I just like the Daytona too much. I was infatuated with the color of the VC dial and strap combination.

Its rated to 150 m, but it is also one of the thinnest - if not the thinnest - automatic chronograph movement around, so that might make it less durable, I don't know.

You're right. It is rated 150m. I knew that but I forgot. I have yet to see it in person so I dont know how thing it is. But really I wouldnt be expecting to bang it around anyways.

I think I will head over to the AD this weekend to take a look.

I tried the titanium VC on a few weeks ago. I liked it, but not enough to justify a purchase to be honest.

But I´m not really the chrono type of guy.

I'm not sure that the "durability" difference is much of anything. Because of Rolex's history and their advertising, they're perceived as the ultimate tool watch, something good-looking that you can bang around. I don't know how you can quantify any difference between KIF and Parachrom. I think we are conditioned to see a beat up a Rolex and its part of the charm. But this VC has antimagnetic shielding and 150m WR so I'm pretty sure it's not a wallflower.
