Great watch and one that will definitely fly under the radar (if that's your thing). For the 40mm version, I do prefer the black dial for some reason..

I flipped my polar sometime ago and now since it has been gone I have done nothing but miss her. So much that I will receive another tomorrow. It is a great watch indeed. Looks great. Wears even better. I am looking forward to a reunion with my friend that has been gone for awhile now. I will not make that mistake again.

I had been looking for a while and I managed to pick up a Tritium example just into the new year. It was a hard choice between this early example or a Milgauss.

Glad I went for the 16550 now!

My Rolex journey started with a polar 16570, which I still love. It was a difficult decision between black and polar... and I was never quite sure I made the right one, so it wasn't very long before I got a BNIB one of those too. The black dial is my least worn watch (less than my Tudor Ranger, in fact) but I still absolutely love it every time I give it some wrist time. Both have the 3186 movement in, which I'm quietly pleased about too.

Neither get noticed. Only my Explorer occasionally catches admiring glances, but the ExpIIs are rather more generic looking to your average punter, it seems. Perfect!

If for daily wear, I would suggest the Black over the Polar!

Its a really great all rounder, the polar looks very crisp and is at home in the office or at play. Also it can fly under the radar as it doesn't shout ROLEX. Having a fixed bezel its pretty tough too. I always look forward wearing my ExpII

I have a polar 216570 (42mm) that I love. Wear it everywhere--hiking, skiing, and in court too. Great, versatile watch.

It's a beauty and I love mine! The polar is great because if you add another piece down the line, it will most likely be a black considering their line-up. The polar will complement it nicely. My polar and my Sub are my favorite combo.

I did own a 16570 with the white dial but I never really bonded with it. Lots of people really do like them (as can be judged by the number of posts in this discussion) but if I was you I would be looking for a late model 14060M. If you do opt for the Explorer II then check out a few before you buy as the market is awash with pre-owned examples - check that the bezel is not scratched (they nearly all are) and that the case has not been overly polished. As there are so many around and dealers struggle to offload them then it is also worth holding out for an example with all the papers, service history and accessories. Good luck in your search.
