Thanks Scott! That's what I wanted to know!

Karis - the GMT IIc is great. Just do it - I reckon you're slipping irreversibly to the inevitable purchase .

What a great stablemate for your Sub - an awesome duo, by any standard .

Thanks, Karis .

The subtle differences with the Sub contrast well with the larger case. maxi dial and ceramic bezel of the new GMT.

The Sub will always be an icon its own right - probably never to be surpassed in the decades of veneration it has received from the sports model enthusiasts, even to this day.

The new GMT is probably one of the best looking models in recent years and I think it's great that you may be on the very threshold of getting one, too .

Thanks Neil! I agree that the GMTII-C would be quite an amazing 'older sibling' to my Sub Date and white roman DJ!

For a different look you could go for a Milguass or Daytona...

While the Ceremaric bezel GMT Master II looks very different from the Submariner from a 2-3 feet... any further, and they look pretty much alike IMHO.

Not crazy about the Milgauss and not sure I can justify $10k on the Daytona....thanks for the input!

Maybe we should look at it at in a different way. The black and steel combination of both the Sub and the GMT Master make them look similar... but when I look at your current collection, you have two of the most iconic watches in the Rolex line-up... adding the GMT Master II would be a logical step for a collector.

I'd say I'm a wearer as opposed to a 'collector'....I certainly don't spend this much on a watch just to say I own one/have it sit in a box. I want to wear what I have and enjoy it.

Maybe looking for a daily wearer, is not what you need. A GMT Master II would be the choice for traveling. If you are looking for the perfect two watch combination, you already have it. A datejust for the professional white collar look, a submariner for casual wear and rough use. Maybe it is time for a special purpose watch.

Wow Ral, you've really put some thought into this! And I appreciate your thoughts! I do agree that my DJ and Sub are the perfect duo...and I am a bit guilty of enjoying 'hunting', but I will say that the GMT has always intrigued me as well, and the latest improvements are awesome! I'll continue mulling it over as there is no rush

Why don’t you - yes but

Plot: Why dont you - yes but? is the game most commonly played in groups of all kinds, including psychotherapy groups. The following example will serve to illustrate its main characteristics:
White: My husband always insists on doing our own repairs, and he never builds anything right.?
Black: Why doesn’t he take a course in carpentry??
White: Yes but he doesn’t have time.?
Blue: Why dont you buy him some good tools??
White: Yes but he doesn’t know how to use them.?
Red: Why dont you have your building done by a carpenter??
White: Yes, but that would cost too much.?
Brown: Why dont you just accept what he does the way he does it??
White: Yes but the whole thing might fall down.?
Such an exchange is typically followed by a silence. It is eventually broken by Green, who may say something like, Thats men for you, always trying to show how efficient they are.?
[¦] a good player can stand off the others indefinitely until they all give up, whereupon White wins. In many situations she might have to handle a dozen or more solutions to engineer the crestfallen silence which signifies her victory.

Sorry, I'm late to the game Karis, but I'm on vacation.

I have both now and at first glance my non-WIS GF thought they were the same. Then she tried both on and greatly appreciated the differences and was noting to me all of the not-so-subtle differences. Everyone has mentioned all of the cosmetic differences already, so no point. The look is truly different. Have you tried both on at the same time. One on the right and one on the left. You'll see the differences big time. The case has MUCH more presence on your wrist. I actually have someone notice it. No one has noticed my sub before. There is much, much more bling to the IIc over the 16610. It is a much dressier/stylish watch. I didn't like the green writing much at first, but that also distinguishes the watch a lot. As you know, most people don't notice your watch, so if it is different to you, that is all that really matters.

Also, what kind of collection do you want? You looking for all 40mm sports, all different face colors, etc?

Keep me posted!

Interesting....thanks....my Sub is the 16610. I also like the polished center links on the 116710. Differentiates them a bit more....
