Very nice! Congrats on your first Rolex!

I generally don't like Breitling, but I do like the one you have. It's not as busy as I find a lot of them. Excellent taste :)

Firstly, thanks everyone for the lovely reception.
Secondly, my username wasn't intended to cause any offence.
I chose that name as it was kind of appropriate, kind of funny, a term in wide use, and, let’s face it, we’re all adults here.

However, a couple of users out of the very many who have commented on my Incomming thread have taken exception to it.

I didn’t join to ruffle any feathers, so I've requested admin to change it.

Thanks

Just my two cents.
I certainly hope this isn’t a sign of my pending maturity, but I agree with all that you’ve written

x2. While I don’t agree there was an issue, if it causes offence to some then the nice thing to do is exactly what Jagsie has done

Very nice, congratulations.

I just joined the rolex party last month with a sub date as well. I just can't take my eyes off it, it is a lovely timepiece.

Well done Jagsie! Although I was one of the few who thought your username wasn’t the best choice, you showed true character by having it changed. That being said, congratulations on your Sub and wear it in the very best of health.

No problem buddy, and thanks!

I found out today that one of my workmates managed to pick up a new DeepSea at Dubai airport, the jammy git.
I'll get him to join ASAP!

Not a better way to start off your collection in my opinion! The Breitling is nice too, but wow I love how the Subc compares to it. Simple and elegant.

After being told by last month by every retailer in the universe that there would be a 1-2 year+ waiting list (Goldsmiths - 75 people in the queue, independents with 30 in the queue), I had a call from a retailer in London that had my details saying they had one.
Needless to say, I was down there like a shot and got it bought.

Love it. Paid retail for it too, no silly mark-ups.
Don't know why I didn't do it sooner.

I've got a Breitling SuperOcean 44 also, but the Sub is a nicer fit on my girly wrist.

My Breitling

Cheers for reading!
Congrats on the perfect choice. Looks great on your wrist
I love the BSO too. Used to have one in 42mm and w yellow motif, but the Sub is a level up.

You know what, it's really nice to be in like-minded company. The guys at work just don't get the whole watch I thing. They think I'm mad spending that sort of money on a watch, they just don't get "it". For example comparing a Rolex to a £5 quartz Micky Mouse watch as they both tell the time, and the quartz is probably more accurate. As an engineer, I really appreciate the delicacy of a quality watch. They don't understand why I would rather spend the money on a Rolly than on a car (I drive a 15-year-old £200 Audi by the way). I've just started calling them Luddites (among other things)!

I agree jagsie, if I could have a pound for every time I have to explain my reasoning for buying quality watches, I’d have enough for another watch.
Most people just don’t understand my obsession with fine mechanical workmanship, and if you start to state your view they just glaze over and lose interest.
