Is the brushing that bad? I am not concern about it. It does not bother me. So I guess I will not return it just because of it. My only concern is the bezel and “dirt” on the 10 hour marker. Just hoping for now that it wont cost that much. Still cant go to RSC this week. Next week will probably good for me. Smh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I buy watches, not problems. I've got enough of those already.
If I somehow manage to buy a watch with a problem, the very first thing I do is to rectify that by returning it. If this problem was not disclosed by the seller, there is already an issue of trust in my mind of what he else he hasn't disclosed. Just my two cents. |

Hahah yes you are right. Maybe I have a problem on returning watches or I am just stupid. I had a problem with reputable seller here on TRF. I picked up the explorer 2 42 watch all the way to PA, look at it and took it home. Once I got home I noticed that the crytal has a scratched which was not disclosed by the seller and insisting that he did not see that scratch. Cyclops also has a scratch and can be seen on the pictures he posted. (Miss that part when I look at his listing photos) I asked if I could return it and he said “no” because Once I went there and checked the watch that is as good as accepting it. I understand his situation, maybe he thinks that I am the one who scratched it. He offered me a free refinishing on the bracelet and case but I opted not to because won’t do any good on the crystal. Instead just asked for credit. Gave me alittle credit and that is it. Oh Well I still have the watch now and wearing it almost daily. :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would return it, you have 2 known issues already plus a poor polish job.

Don't feel too bad. I've purchased used Rolex watches in the past and things weren't perfect with them. Hopefully you got a good enough deal on it so that an RSC service will be worthwhile to give you more peace of mind. As long as the watch is all authentic and legitimate, you'll be fine.
The bezel fix is pretty straightforward, but they will likely charge you for a new bezel assembly. I'd be curious about what the speck is on the hour marker. Is it free floating debris or a sign of some shock injury to the watch.

Picture 2 in the 1st post, I can see the bezel has lifted from the case. Try pressing it back down into place before anything else?

Is your enthusiasm clouding your judgement ? Happens to me on every new watch I get.
It seems there is a lot of cosmetic problems going on here. Bad polish, crooked bezel, detents missing. Biggest deal breaker should be the "thing" inside on the dial. I would think some amateur really messed with this watch. If you have to pay for a complete service is it still worth the m9ney ? |

Did you know the bezel was faulty before you bought? if not, return it.

I really need to go to RSC to have it check and ask for a price quote to fix everything wrong. If It is under 1k I am still happy about it. I still have time to return it through buyers protection and told the seller about the problems. Would like to have the watch checked out first before deciding if I will return it or not. Yes that is what I also noticed. I will try to push it down again when I get home. I did not push hard the first time. I also saw a video on youtube on how to remove the bezel. It is simple enough but will try to ask seller and RSC before doing anything with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

From the first time I saw it, it looks like a gold residue from the hour markers. I will try to look into it later tonight. Ahhh I wish I still have my macro lens. Hahahah Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So far I have not seen a 9k mint flat/smurf version on this forum or auction sites. Usually they go for 10500 and up. Problems are ok as long they are fixable and cheap and will still come out as good buy. But if fixing it will cost more then I will def return it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That dial “stain” is a deal breaker. To fix the horrible brushing and to repair the bezel is bad enough already, the dial is questionable at best, and I would not feel comfortable purchasing it.

Hello All, Just an update. I manage to go to RSC NYC this morning. They said the watch has been serviced by unauthorized center or person. Whoever did the service did not put it's Initial/signature. Rolex gave me a figure of 700 and up range . but that is just a ball part figure because they will not give me the real estimate without taking the watch apart. Since its been tampered with. there will be a $150 fee (usually free). They can not just fix the bezel and the speck on the marker without doing the whole service thing. If an authorized service center did the previous service. They can just do the bezel and remove the speck / dirt and brush/polish the watch. I will be returning the watch. :) I will be on the market again when I get the refund.
Thank you all for your help and comments. |
