Thanks guys - good info.
However, I just thought of something... Doesn't Rolex engrave the serial number between the lugs at 6:00, and the MODEL number between the lugs at 12:00? (Pre-rehaut engraving of course) Therefore, the model number would be either 16610 -or- 16610LV. Wouldn't that verify that the original watch is, in fact, a "Kermit"? (LV = Lunette Verte) |

Imho Fat 4 are just a hype. Soon there will be more of them than pointed ones on the market and that sub bubble will pop.
A friend has a mark 1 dial with pointed 4 bezel. The whatch has never left his wrist and I always remember him wearing it..... |

from sep 2003 to Oct 2004 and are now obviously discontinued so i am confussed how there will be more Fat 4's than pointed 4's (which were in production for approx 6 years) as you stated above???? Care to share how you came to this conclusion? |

Based on the fact in 2008 only 4-5% of the kermit for sale were fat 4s, when I look around nowadays we are already around 7-8% of them. Based on the possible profit you will see there number rising only more and more. |

Did you take into consideration all those fat 4 Kermit’s that have been lost/damaged, serviced with non genuine parts, bezel changes, lost warranty papers etc.?? My opinion stands, these rare 50th anniversary 16610LV Fat4’s continue to gain attention from collectors and are getting harder and harder to find in “original genuine” condition with papers. There will always be demand for these unique, discontinued models. |

Does anyone know how many of each year were produced out of curiosity? I have the more common of the run which is an early Z with paper/cert (not the card). I could have sworn I had seen another Z listed for sale on TRF months back in which the seller stated in his LV for sale headline 1/18XX were produced.

No, no and 1000 times no! It`s not internet land - 50 years are 50 years and so the "real" anniversary models are only the ones from 2003! The market is always right and so are the premiums for the 2003 models! Basta!

At the official Rolex Website they mention 1953 as birth year of the Submariner! So it`s 1953! |

I'll go by what Mr Market says and he says that the 2003 Y serial Flat Fours are the most valuable, with it seems the 2010/11 Random serial models right behind them.
