Really? The platinum dial makes the watch monochromatic and just kind of boring. That sunburst blue is deep and has high contrast to the bezel and hands. To this designers eye it’s just far more attractive......but what do I know

The 40mm Platinum dial is kinda boring..just a lot of white..and pretty heavy too..
On the other hand..the 35mm is not..
As it has more going on in a tighter space...

I just saw one at Wesleys on Saturday, I passed on it and a Sub date. I still cannot like the shape of the Sub maxi-case, the YM blue was awesome looking and fit great. But I was looking specifically for a SD43.

Had a chance to try on the YM 116622 Blue dial at a local AD.

Looks so amazing in real life!!

Have gone home to think about it.
Don't think too much, there'll soon be a waiting list for these at this pace.

Not boring but quiet, soft mannered and elegant. It'll never shout at you like sunburst dials do and it might surprise you with a sumptuous and gentle sparkling effect under the sunlight to remind you of the shimmering Mediteranian sea. It will soothe you.
Well that's what it does to me anyway :-).

Agree. If this was a newly released model it would go ballistic... Blue dial... Stainless sports Rolex... Non maxi case... Red font on the dial...

I'm happy it isn't so popular though as it meant I could get one at a reasonable price
