Sold the Harley, picked up a Sub

You have a great watch, enjoy it. If the watch was previously serviced, it most likely has been polished up a bit. The never polish mantra has only been a fairly recent phenomenon chanted by owners that want everyone to believe that they have been owners of a decades old watch when the vast percentage have been owners for a few months. Your dial and hands look original to me and they have great patina.

I blew my 1680 fund on a Yamaha XT660z about 9 years ago but luckily through a hard saving drive managed to get the 1680 a few years later. Hope another bike on the near horizon

My apologies....I had erroneously suggested that the Vendor claimed the watch was unpolished. Actually, I confused the conversation with another watch I was looking at which was priced outside of my comfort range.

I believe this watch was fairly priced at $9,500.

Rust cleaned and a general check through from a good independent.

Personally I would keep it as more a worn look, if you want as factory new, RSC.

Congratulations on the Sub! I'd send it to Tom at http://www.dstimeservice.com/about.html and have it serviced, leave it as is and I'd look for the proper SS bracelet to go on it as well.

I would polish the crystal and leave the case as is. Drives me nuts looking through a scratched crystal, and that can be replaced. An over polished case is bad!

Tough call on the Harley but a good exchange in my opinion.

Should that a little TLC be needed down the line, then RSC is probably the last place I would send it. Do a well respected independent watch-maker

Correct on the RSC. They will restore to make it look like new. I purchased a 1965 Precision that the owner sent to an RSC for repairs, cost $2551. The watch looks great but not like a Precision. More like it had a facelift. I purchased for the cost of repairs, but the value is down the drain.

Enjoy it as it is. No reason to repolish it if it works smoothly. Wouldn't want to take a chance over-polishing or harming the watch further. Congrats on the switch from bike to watch!

Because the TRF are WIS. It just true with collectible vintage Rolex, particularly sports models. I’d carefully look at all options before making a decision on your collectible. For example, what’s the value of a restored 5513 versus your watch with the rust stains removed (without changing any parts).
